My current research attempts to integrate two materials (mineral pigments and liquid enamel) in work that exploits their properties for color, narrative, and gestural imagery. In 2015, as part of a research grant, I traveled to Racine, Wisconsin to work with enamelist Leslie Perrino in creating liquid form enamel recipes. "Celestial," “Trial,” and “Tribulation” are recent brooches that combine both elements in individual works. Each contains material I’ve made, including the liquid enamel developed with thanks to Leslie. This year I have planned a series of brooches to further combine these materials and will post the results as they become available.
