East Carolina University, in Greenville, NC, has exceptional MFA and BFA programs in Metal Design. I teach along with three other outstanding faculty, Tim Lazure, Robert Ebendorf, and Mi Sook Hur. Because of our high faculty to student ratio we pride ourselves on the amount of personal one-on-one attention each student receives.
Students have unlimited access to the fully equipped Metal Design facility which includes a new ventilated electroforming area, spray etching machine, six digitally controlled enameling kilns, fully equipped centrifugal and vacuum casting areas, forming areas, and ventilated soldering and annealing stations. Each student is also provided a private workspace that includes a bench and storage area.
Additionally we have an enthusiastic and active student run metals guild. We also maintain a visiting artist program and a student run intercollegiate metals symposium "Material Topics" every spring, among many other activities each year, making ECU one of the most dynamic programs in Metals Design.
